Super Mario 3D Land Review

Yes, the day has come.
I am posting a review.
There goes it!

Super Mario 3D Land is a game for Nintendo 3DS, release around July this year and pretty much marked it as one of the first Mario games for 3DS, along with Mario Kart 7, and followed by New Super Mario Bros 2 and the recently released Paper Mario Sticker Star.
However, from all these games, it is the sole one that closely ressembles Super Mario 64, for N64. This is important because >nostalgia.

Graphics 10/10
I’d say graphics were never an issue in any Mario game. I mean, the sole difference from Mario 64 is the number of polygons. But then again, SM3L does it good to deliver pretty stages and funny Mario costumes.

Music 8/10
Unfortunately, though, music can’t be as simple as graphics, since it totally makes the mood of the stages. Then again, an eight is not bad, it is just that I have to be more strict.
All the songs in this game are catchy at first, pretty much cool and you even might find yourself hunming some. Unfortunately, though, it gets less and less interesting over time, until it becomes annoying. Well, not every song, most just end up as meh.

Controls 7/10
They’re responsive, but the fact that the game uses just 3 buttons to do everything (jump, run, crouch) out of the 6 buttons available makes me wonder if there wasn’t a certain, erm, waste of potential there. Yeah it’s just “Mario” but it’s not like Mario cannot be more complex than jumping and running. I get sad at the fact some games just don’t have enough buttons to be played (Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D), while some just waste their potential.

Story 1/10
Well, frankly speaking, the games starts off quite stupidly. It just starts, so yeah so story here.

Conclusion 6.5
Nice for the nostalgia and to play while you’re waiting. Sometimes when there’s not enough time to concentrate on Resident Evil Revelations, it’s awesome to have SM3L around.
